Favoritism. Jealousy. Murderous intent. Lies. Deceit. Prostitution. Hypocrisy. How is it that these are the actions and characteristics of the heads of the nation of Israel?

The story of Jesus didn’t end at the tomb. It didn’t even end at the ascension. It continues every time we live out His calling. We are the next scene. The movement continues through our obedience, our faith, our courage. The heavens have been torn open. The curtain has been torn down. The stage is set. The lights are on. The curtain hasn’t closed. It’s our turn to accept God’s challenge of living for Him in this me-centered world. 

When my son Hunter was ten, he came to me with a humble confession. He said that because he hasn’t been spending much time with God lately, he had been grumpier and grumpier. He quietly admitted he had been mean to his siblings and had said some unkind things. With amazing insight, he connected the amount of time he spent with God to his behaviors … recognizing that there was a direct correlation.

When you pray today, put it all out on the table - your fear, your grief, your uncertainty, your desires. Some of the greatest moments of understanding in your life will come from seasons which force you to lay those things before the Father.
